Easter Traditions

Did you know that traditionally in the North of England, at Eastertime, the game of Egg Tapping (or Egg Dumping or Egg Jarping ) was played?

To play the game each player has a hard boiled egg and has to hit the other players eggs with their own. The winner being the holder of the last intact egg. The losers get to eat theirs!!!
If you know of anymore 'interesting' Easter Traditions, please let me know!
Happy Easter!

As a young girl, I recall being taken to a pub in Bromley-by-Bow, London,in order to watch the Easter Bun Ceremony. A sailor hung a hot cross bun in the window where there were already several others from previous years. I was told that this tradition was begun by a poor widow whose only son had not returned from sea one Good Friday.
