Annual Venice Trip (October )

We've just returned from our annual trip to Venice & as usual, had a wonderful time.
The paintings below were outdoor sketches.
The first one being painted on the island of Burano, famous for its lace making.
All the houses on the island are painted in different bright colours. Tradition has it, that they were painted this way, so that fishermen could distinguish their homes, whilst out fishing?
Whatever the reason, they are certainly a feast for the eyes!!
I thought I would add some photographs too. Acqua Alta, (High Tide) providing some different subject matter!!
